He has graced the airwaves on: GoodHope FM (Eeshaam September’s HomeBrew), UCT Radio (Weekly Hiphop show with co-host/ uber producer 37mph), Spectrum 91.3 (Red Bull Music Academy 2003 on-air DJ and producer) and MuthaFM. Wilson Fury

Wilson Fury is known for his fusion of funky breaks, house and electro. Through his active involvement within the scene in all the major cities in SA he teamed up with DJ Redwood (3x DMC SA Champ) and DJ Nifty ( SA DMC Team Champ) to form Push and Shove and live act that fuses Hip Hop scratching and juggling with tight mixing. A perfect fusion of funk and fun that will get any dance floor rocking. This charisma on the decks has seen him being booked along some big names in the industry and also secured him a headlining set at this years Oppikoppi festival.

More about Wilson at: www.myspace.com/wilsonfury

AfroWhitie

Starting off with ambient, AfroWhitie navigated the genre map on a different course to most, playing a plethora of genres through his career including Psytrance, Big Beat, Speed Garage, Nu Skool Breaks, Deep house, UK Garage/ 2Step. The fact that he never settled on a single “en vogue ” sound or movement only bolstered his versatility and sees him able to pour a decent mix of genres and styles out of the speakers in a single set all while maintaining the technique and track selection required to play each with conviction and style. He has also played alongside internationals like: Dieselboy, Cargo 77, Tom Novy, Freq Nasty, General Midi and Baobinga. His many mixes on national SA radio through 5FM’s Vinyl Frontier and TV appearances that include UBONA on Channel O and GoTv have been a perfect vehicle for his quest to pull people from their comfort zones and massage them with bass wrapped around chunky, bumpy beats!

Checkout some of his beats at: http://www.myspace.com/afrowhitie

JDL Quake

Juan DL Quake has been spinning in the South African underground scene for well over a decade. Born in the Free State, he discovered and developed his true passion for scratching at an early age and kept himself schooled on DMC and Scratch videos. He was soon playing at tops venues and has performed alongside names such as: Luke Vibert, Scratch from The Roots, Cut la Roc, Baobinga, General Midi and Cypress Hill. His style although eclectic in places is always centered around the dance floor and always maintains a high level of energy.

Malone

With nearly ten years’ DJing experience behind him, Ian Malone is very much an ambassador for breakbeat in Cape Town, South Africa. His tight, inventive mixing and emotive nu skool sound have seen him tour the country to wide acclaim, as well as netting him performances alongside General Midi, Baobinga, Dov, Cut La Roc, Scratch from The Roots and the very best of SA’s electronic acts. Now the resident DJ for 6th & Fairfax Radio (BijouBreaks.com, California), Malone offers up a monthly dose of killer breaks, mixed live and featuring a distinct international flavour.

Hyphen

Hyphen’s tight mixing and selection of the hottest tunes covering the whole Drum n Bass spectrum has secured him sets alongside the likes of Counterstrike, Dieselboy, Pendulum, Break, Raiden, Robyn Kaos, The Mixologists, Pascal. He hosts the legendary Tuesday night Drum n Bass show on Bush Radio and promotes various events, the most current being “The Ride”, a Drum n Bass evening at the end of each month. Hyphen also fulfills his social role as a Moderator for SAs only Drum n Bass forum: www.drumnbass.co.za. Hyphen has just released his first vinyl pressing alongside SFR. The track Visions will be pressed on Zombie Recordings which will make him one of the handful of SA DnB artists to have ever done this.

Niskerone

Nisker:one has been playing drum & bass in Cape Town since the beginning of 2004 alongside partner in crime, SFR aka Overturn. These two quickly planted their feet firmly in the Drum & Bass scene, hosting events and presenting radio shows on UCT Radio and now Mutha Fm.
To date, Nisker:one has played at most major events including Nightvision ‘05 & ‘06, Obsfest ‘05 & ‘06, The Insanity Festival and New Years Revolutions to name but a few and also landing a weekly residency at one of Cape Town’s leading venues, Fiction. The sound that emerges from the speakers when Nisker:one is in the driving seat can be described as a bowl of deep, pulsating subs mixed with fast two step rhythms and topped with subtle hints of dub, electro, jazz and funk. To borrow a phrase from Hospital Records, a Nisker:one set is best described as “Fast Soul Music”.

If you're an angry white male in your late 20's into metal, a band is looking for a singer.

The brief:

You:
25-35, good sense of humour, lank charisma, must drink beer and hard tack, must look the part, must tune lank, have strong opinions, must prefer the old south africa, must have own transport, must be angry, must be white, english or afrikaans, must be a total mental metal head to the core. Must like, listen to, be able to sing: Slayer, The Haunted, Snot, At The Gates, Lamb of God, Pantera, etc. No death/black metal.

We:
36, 37, 41, we laugh a lot, we have loads of charisma, we drink beer and cider mixed together and we drink tack mixed with anything or on it's own, we have strong opinions and we tune lank kak, we are english white people and we prefer the old south africa, we listen to Slayer, The Haunted, At The Gates, Lamb of God, The Refused, Faith No More, Machine Head, Billy Talent, Pantera, Carnal Forge, Snot, Alexisonfire, Deftones, Tool, Gallows, you get the picture.

We have access to the best studio and award winning producer in the country and will record our second full length album next year. Other than that we have nothing planned.
So if you think you can hack it and work with us, we will certainly give you a try and let's rock out.
e mail us your story if you are keen, and if you don't fit the description - don't bother us.
Metal \m/

a truly hilarious quote from dinkys hype / blurb / blah when describing how her broad range of sounds come together:

''something like a sun-dappled clearing in the woods''

ok then.

that would be 'undervalued'

now, now, Navs, i'll have no dissing of Mr Richards round here, ta.

if anything hes unervalued. it takes quite a bit of talent to hold down a residency at a place like fabric for a couple years...

Good riddance they booked the same overpriced djs who with there narrow minded thinking tend to not think beyond their’s and their mates record labels when playing, incest that ran the same gauntlet forever, recurring on an annual basis. residents Terry Francis, Richards anyone???...pretty overrated huh. Change is good; no one club should dominate the landscape. I hope to god this happens to an unORIGINal club in my town…with the winds of change blowing briskly into the sails it’s already starting to happen.

Long live Berghain with their dominant music policy and indestructible residents.

tragic. some of my best club experiences ever at that place. Looks like Matter completely backfired on them. they had to pump millions into it to keep it alive and now its taken them down with it.
