Sweat.X are Spoek Mathambo, ‘The Kool Disco Okapi’ and Markus Wormstorm, ‘The LAN Lord’. They are The Ebony & Ivory Tron. Over the last two years Sweat.X have developed their self-described ‘future-primitive’ and ‘black sweat’ brand of patois-littered electrorap.
Ebonyivorytron is the debut release from the giraffe-riding, coochie-popping, derriere-splitting, boogaloo-breaking, Sweat.X.
Sweat.X have recently completed their European ‘Go Black Go Low Go Fast’ tour, blitzing dancefloors across London and Paris, as well as Stockholm, Gothenberg, Copenhagen, Liege and Berne.
PRESS QUOTES
“South Africa’s Sweat.X are a good reason to dust off that turntable.
The duo’s avant-booty rap uses classic Miami bass synths on ‘Pop That Coochi’ and Baltimore-influenced dirty beats on ‘Glitterati’. Hop to it.” XLR8R
“Sweat.X are the last word in the whole hip-house/new rave/electro-booty funk thing that’s so new it hasn’t even happened yet.” Vice
“Performance art versus electro booty rap, crash landing in a cloud of filth, sex, Alexander McQueen-inspired outfits and sonic lasers.”
Dazed & Confused
“Electro bump ‘n’ grind that blends Prince’s libido-loosening funk with unrestrained eruptions of jittery beat jism.” GQ
“Cape Town’s hyperactive, gutter-mouthed, ‘African electro’ duo, Sweat X… armed with a bunch of ‘future primitive’ rave funk, glitchy melodies and club-friendly glam hip-house, have arrived at exactly the right time.” Time Out
