November 23rd will see the 3rd installment of the Sean ‘The Prawn’ Bauer annual benefit night.

All DJ’s on the night will be playing for free and there will again be no guest list and everyone will be asked for a minimum donation at the door.

Minimum donation before midnight R20 – R40 with CD mixed by Sean Bauer ‘All Prawned Out”

The line up consists of some of Cape Towns stalwarts of House, pairing up to bring you head to head beat battles comprising 4 back to back sets.

Every track laid down will be to honor Sean Bauer and his love for deep electronic music, from Deep House to Tech House and everything in between.

This is the one night a year we come together to celebrate a man who touched our lives in one way or another in his short life, and the only night to catch this line-up of DJ’s together.

Neil Nortier vs. Matt Blitz
Russell Shanglee vs. Peter Abrahams
Rob White vs. Bruno Morphet

Have to say that I admire the guys contributing in honor of Sean's benefit. He is lucky to have friends like you to have such a keen interest in his son and for keeping him alive in your hearts. Touches my heart:-)
Keep it up.

silent> i didnt really know sean, as i was living in london when he came through as a dj - though i met him and djed with him a couple of times whilst out here on holiday - but it has been an honour as both a dj and a father to be involved in this event for the last 3 years.

i truly believe it shows the extent of his legacy to the development of underground house music in cape town, and i feel it and see it in the people who still talk about him with so much love and respect.

''when we give ourselves over completely to the spirit of the dance, it becomes a prayer''.

I feel you Silent… I was with Sean when he bought his first record, and was there after a couple of months of rigorous practice when he got his first mixes on the go.
The look on his face was… priceless!
The bug had bitten!
After taking a long sabbatical myself, I opened for him 3 years later at Prawnography Black Sheep.
He took over from me a 12 and I sat back and watched him take those people on a sublime 2 hour journey into the realms of deep underground music.
I was so proud of him.
I believe we should all remember him and this annual event is an awesome way to do it.
After this party we would have raised well over 20k for his little dude.
Big up to Sean Duvet who started the ball rolling with his effort and contributions

It is always an honour and a privilege to contribute to the success of this important annual commemoration.

His spirit still surrounds us,
his music still shines bright.
I can still hear him saying....
"brother, everythings going to be alright".

Thank you family of the Prawn for all the shout outs, it makes the night of the 23rd even more special when we unite together to honour him.
Myself, Tania, Rob, Russell, Duvet and Peter will be spreading the love and respect every year around this time, with our efforts towards the Prawnography event.
I'm gonna feel him next to me as always next Friday night saying...''Now we playing, now we playing''

Li

2007-11-14 13:48:01+02:00

Well, what can I say...I met Sean for the first the Friday before he passed [had been a groupie for a while though] and he wanted me to meet someone special in his life. I had no idea who or what that would be. I went along to his funeral to pay my respects and send him my shout outs and I met Neil Nortier..... of all the places in world! Weird thing of all is that our paths had crossed before but we never saw it coming. Thank you Sean for that. You were a massive part of Neil's life and are now apart of mine. We are now having a beautiful baby boy in 3 months time and I know you had something to do with this. So out of all the saddness, you have brought us joy! We feel you around us constantly and I so wish we could have spent more time together but like they say...the soul never dies. I have lost many friends but I can honestly say, we hear you brother.
See you on the flip side.
Love Li

nats> I'm not too fussy - all of them? I'll be in cape town in december then maybe we can meet make arrangements.
Hate to ask you this question on the board (they're going to let me have it) but are you on facebook?
Think it will be easier to correspond that way!!
xx

ps: just a little background - the reason the Sean story touches my heart so is cos I was nine weeks pregnant when my daughter's father died in a car accident, on monday the 12th Nov it was exactly 6 years ago. So I really feel for his son (and family) because with my daughter missing the father she never met breaks my heart everyday.
So I know this isn't the time or place but I'd just like to say "hey Gavin Mark Assad I really love you and I miss you so much. You gave me the best present I could ever have dreamed of - she's gorgeous, I know you would've been so proud of her. She's up in all the Edgars stores posters again this year... she looks like you."

So hope you don't mind me throwing that in there :-)

Silent

2007-11-14 14:50:15+02:00

pps: I hope they're mates in heaven... Gavin made friends/was friends with everybody so I'm sure he found Sean a while ago swapping notes and causing havoc - he was one naughty sh*t :-)

Nephew: Kayde Sean Bauer

2007-11-14 16:03:44+02:00

Although my son, Kayde(Sean's nephew), was only born after Sean's death, I know that he's looking down at Kayde from heaven and smiling..our angel.

To Francie, Griffin and Shelly, Chris, Nats, Sam, Brent and kids - my thoughts and prayers are always with you...Keep the FAITH!

All my Love and Warm wishes,
Vicki-Leigh

If you're an angry white male in your late 20's into metal, a band is looking for a singer.

The brief:

You:
25-35, good sense of humour, lank charisma, must drink beer and hard tack, must look the part, must tune lank, have strong opinions, must prefer the old south africa, must have own transport, must be angry, must be white, english or afrikaans, must be a total mental metal head to the core. Must like, listen to, be able to sing: Slayer, The Haunted, Snot, At The Gates, Lamb of God, Pantera, etc. No death/black metal.

We:
36, 37, 41, we laugh a lot, we have loads of charisma, we drink beer and cider mixed together and we drink tack mixed with anything or on it's own, we have strong opinions and we tune lank kak, we are english white people and we prefer the old south africa, we listen to Slayer, The Haunted, At The Gates, Lamb of God, The Refused, Faith No More, Machine Head, Billy Talent, Pantera, Carnal Forge, Snot, Alexisonfire, Deftones, Tool, Gallows, you get the picture.

We have access to the best studio and award winning producer in the country and will record our second full length album next year. Other than that we have nothing planned.
So if you think you can hack it and work with us, we will certainly give you a try and let's rock out.
e mail us your story if you are keen, and if you don't fit the description - don't bother us.
Metal \m/

Good riddance they booked the same overpriced djs who with there narrow minded thinking tend to not think beyond their’s and their mates record labels when playing, incest that ran the same gauntlet forever, recurring on an annual basis. residents Terry Francis, Richards anyone???...pretty overrated huh. Change is good; no one club should dominate the landscape. I hope to god this happens to an unORIGINal club in my town…with the winds of change blowing briskly into the sails it’s already starting to happen.
