Killer Robot
Killer Robot was started in July 2006 at Cape Town¹s Fiction club. DJs Ivan and Bruno Morphet kicked off a night that would address the gap in the market for underground techno of all varieties. Upstart club Fiction provided the ideal stage with its maverick attitude and they were joined by resident AK47, already well known for his breaks and electro sets.
Since then Killer Robot has risen to become the premier residency in South Africa for cutting edge electronic music. It has also become a destination for many of its finest exponents around the world, as well as a pilgrimage for like minded artists from South Africa. Names like Butane, Ryan Crosson and Bodycode and representatives from Kompakt and Gigolo all played to packed dancefloors in its intimate surroundings. Killer Robot also supported Lee Burridge, Steve Bug and Guido Schneider and on their tours of South Africa. As 2008 gathers speed, even bigger things are instore for the Robots…
Seake
Fed up with the lackluster variety of clubs & music in their home town of Durban, this anti-hero audio team, namely Malcolm Blake & Luke Searson, started a series of musical performances as a live electronic group called Seake in 2006.
After rummaging together a few discarded children¹s music toys, some old gaming consoles & an electric toothbrush, they began stirring interest amongst the KZN music scene. By the end of 2007 they were playing their semi-refined blend of Retro-Techno-Ambient-Microhouse-Synth-Pop-Terror-Jazz at some of the countries top underground events (Perc Trax SA Tour, NoNoNo & Triphazard) & alongside some of their very own local and international heroes. With many musical influences between them & a disturbing amount of free time on their hands, they have begun pushing the boundaries of performance & live production in the SA electronic & dance community.
