Ectomorph (Brendan M. Gillen and Gerald Donald, later replaced by Erika Sherman) unleashed their unique brand of spaced out techno on the world for the first time in 1995 via the Interdimensional Transmissions label. Maintaining a steady stream of releases for this label since then, and culminating in their “Sleazy Listening” LP in 2006, recorded highlights include their recent “Dada” ep on IT, submissions on Ghostly’s “Disco Nouveau” and Rephlex’s “Murora Project,” as well as remixes of Detroit gems such as “Shari Vari” (Gigolo) and His Name is Alive (4AD).The group has developed a new approach to sound by delivering unique in-the-moment live performances, often with additional avant theater. Such performances have taken them around the world, from the Sonar Festival to the Love Parade, from the Knitting Factory to the Empty Bottle.
Brendan Gillen, Detroit resident, label boss of Interdimensional Transmissions, and an accomplished dj in his own right, has been pivotal in the re-emergence of electro, from his early trend defining records to his productions for many distinguished labels (including Planet E, Ersatz Audio, Rephlex, Gigolo, and Ghostly.) He joins Ivan, Bruno Morphet and AK47 for a session of pure Detroit class at Killer Robot.
