Prawnography
Saturday, 15 November 2008
Year on year Prawnography has been one of the most anticipated events of the clubbing calendar and this year promises to be no different.
Saturday the 15th November 2008 sees the return of Prawnography to Deluxe. Now on its 4th installment, the annual fundraiser once more honours a friend, DJ and all-round good guy while raising funds to provide a bright future for his son, Gryphon.
So far 18 DJs have donated their services toward the event, with an annual line up of 8 DJs on rotation. The generosity of the DJs and the clubbers who come out to celebrate the life of our dear friend has already raised in excess of R30 000.
Notable past contributors have been Shaun Duvet (Anything Goes, Bang Bang Club); Neil Nortier and Peter Abrahams (Prawnography - Blacksheep) and Bruno Morphet and the Killer Robot crew - to name but a few.
Special thanks also goes to: Neil Nortier; Tania du Bois; Peter A; Rob White; Bianca Coleman; Nathan Blows and Deluxe Night Club, who put the effort in every year to take care of all the logistics involved with setting up this event.
Doors open at 22h00 with a minimum donation of R20 before 23h00 (R50 with CD) and R50 after (R80 with CD).

its always been my absolute honour to be involved in this project from its inception and as ever i look forward to another great night where a man that remains very dear to the majority of people i know in cape town is remembered in fine style!
i saw gryphon at my sons birthday party last weekend - what a truly beautiful kid he is, and real testament to shellys love and devotion as a mother.
as ever we will be selling memorabilia in the form of seans mix cds, and though the couple of mixes weve had for sale over the last few years will still be available, id love it if anyone out there had any complete mixes of seans that we could hear and upload if suitable, cos it would be great to have some additions to the variety of stuff on sale.
if you can help with this, please contact me at

Hey Bobby, I know that Natalie does have a few old mixes of Prawny that no one has heard, but we have had no luck getting hold of her.
Anyone with an idea?
Natalie, please call me 0219813737
I might have 1 or 2 that have not been on rotation at the door... I will try and get them to you soon.

i would just like to say a big BOOOOOO!! to the djs who have been sending nasty and sarcastic emails to some of the organisers of Prawnography - whingeing and crying like little bitches cos they arent playing or dont like the time of their set... and this after doing absolutely FUCKALL to help with this event for the last 3 years - not even helping to burn a couple of cds - as one dj who didnt get to play last year refused to do when we asked him to help.
shame on you for using an event like this purely for your girly egos, you fucking self centred wankers, and please dont ever again use the lame excuse youve given for your whining so far, ie ''but i was one of Prawns best friends''...
Really? cos if you were, then why dont you just come down to the party and make a donation, or call one of the organisers and ask to help arrange the logistics, or even send out the invite to your mailing list? cos thats what a friend would do - not use their friends memorial event for self promotion.
truly and utterly pathetic.

in response to the 'name and shame' requests:
ha ha although its very tempting and i could put at least 3 or 4 names up for public vilification, i'll let these people who cant think further than ''whats in it for me'' have a bit of a re-think as to what words like 'friend', 'respect' and 'integrity' really mean to them.
enough said on this shameful matter now.

I do assure everyone that this is not Joe Bub and his little DJ crew.
A lot of time and deliberation goes into putting the line-up together with an open mind and a fair point of view.
Some will be disappointed, some disgruntled and some will sit out one year to make way for others.
This event draws from a bigger pond than the usual puddles scattered around Cape Town, and Sean would want everyone to pull together on his benefit day.

I remember the first mix that Sean ever put together in my lounge one night after some intense and rigorous practice.
