Killer Robot presents The Earthdance Warmup with Ziggy Kinder
Friday, 18 September 2009
Killer Robot starts off its festival season with The Earthdance Warmup featuring a live performance from Ziggy Kinder (Ware/Souvenir - Cologne). In anticipation of its hosting of the poolside dancefloor on Sunday at Earthdance, KR has put together a foretaste of whats to come, together with another top shelf international artist, right here at Fiction.
Ziggy Kinder:
Sigfried ‘Ziggy’ Kinder, started making music at the age of ten in his hometown of Dusseldorf. Thanks to enthusiastic support from his father, Ziggy was experimenting on a wide range of instruments much earlier than most his age, eventually settling on the guitar as his instrument of choice.
Inspired by the sounds of the eighties, New Order, Human League,Trans X, Anne Clark und Kraftwerk amongst them, Ziggy found himself leaning toward the sphere of electronic music and began combining his prodigious talent with a new toy in the form of an Apple Mac.
The first electronic project he embarked on was named Dugong in 1999. The Dugong sound was dedicated to light, electronic ambient Dub tones combined with acoustic instruments, thus setting a course that would lead him to his current style of choice, minimal techno.
Since 2002, Ziggy has been living and making music in Cologne, a city already legendary in techno circles for being the home of Kompakt records. He has released his own unique take on the minimal sound on labels like Ware, Souvenir and Stil Vor Talent. As it has always been the case, Ziggy spends his time clubbing with both feet firmly on the dance floor. This is why he is especially keen on producing tracks to which you can actually dance. His very individual arrangements are characterised by a propensity for experiments as well as by functionality for clubs. In this respect, sound aesthetics are paramount.
Equipped with a laptop and some controllers, Kinder brings a kinetic energy to his gigs absent from many techno producers who play live. His stage persona is untamed and infectious and calculated to lose you in the groove completely, as anyone who has witnessed his show at places like Fabric will attest.
Ziggy will be supported by all three of KR’s residents, Ivan, Bruno Morphet and AK47.
