Mofunk @ The Bang Bang Club

Kick off the month–end with the 103rd Mofunk party which is to be held at the Bang Bang Club , 70 Loop Str in Cape Town.

Miss H (The Boogie) joins up on warm up to deliver nothing but the most soulful of tracks with a fresh twist, she’s been rocking The Boogie for so long at The Waiting Room, there are footprints on the ceiling. On the main set, the original funkster Omar Hendrix flies in from Dubai as the main highlight kicking it up a notch, with dirty funk mixed seamlessly with 7 inch Disco gems. It’s been a while since he played a Mofunk, so we are in for a few surprises, remixes and old favorites. Next up is MRMO dropping disco anthems and funk classics, followed by none other than Diggr Barnz from Forgotten Free-quencies. He is in the funk graveyard that is the closing set of the new line up, expect deep funk and ghetto disco till 4am creeps up on us…

Launched in Cape Town, on the 40th anniversary of Motown records in May 1998, Mofunk celebrates all that encapsulates the very soul of the Motown era, ranging from Soul classics to Disco anthems and ignited by rare Funk.
The definition of a Mofunk party can be described as A “Hip Movement”, as you learn to think from the hip on down. This is indeed the redefinition of having a good time, with a stylish twist.
Mofunk first started at 169 on Long in Cape Town, and since then, there have been 102 national Mofunk events in the last decade, held in the Mother City, Durban and Johannesburg. They have been well received with over 67 000 people bearing witness to the Mofunk Phenomenon, The ultimate Disco Inferno…

Good riddance they booked the same overpriced djs who with there narrow minded thinking tend to not think beyond their’s and their mates record labels when playing, incest that ran the same gauntlet forever, recurring on an annual basis. residents Terry Francis, Richards anyone???...pretty overrated huh. Change is good; no one club should dominate the landscape. I hope to god this happens to an unORIGINal club in my town…with the winds of change blowing briskly into the sails it’s already starting to happen.

tragic. some of my best club experiences ever at that place. Looks like Matter completely backfired on them. they had to pump millions into it to keep it alive and now its taken them down with it.
